Fair Use Policy

Resource usage guidelines and limits to ensure consistent performance for all customers.

Last updated: February 19, 2026

1. Purpose

This Fair Use Policy ("Policy") governs the acceptable resource consumption across all services provided by XeroGroup LLC (operating as XeroHost).

Our infrastructure is designed to serve thousands of customers simultaneously. To ensure consistent performance and a positive experience for all, we implement reasonable usage limits on shared resources. This policy defines what constitutes "fair use" and the actions we may take when usage patterns negatively impact other customers or infrastructure stability.

Effective Date: February 19, 2026

2. Shared Resource Limits

2.1 CPU Usage: • Services should not sustain 100% CPU core utilization for more than 30 consecutive minutes without valid technical justification. • Sustained high CPU usage that impacts neighboring services will be flagged for review. • Cryptocurrency mining is absolutely prohibited on any shared service.

2.2 Memory (RAM): • Constant RAM usage should remain within 90% of allocated resources. • Occasional spikes (e.g., during game server restarts, backup processes) are acceptable. • Memory leaks caused by poorly configured applications must be addressed promptly upon notification.

2.3 Disk Space: • Storage must be used exclusively for data related to the active service. • Prohibited storage uses: Personal file archiving, media libraries (movies, music), unrelated backups, torrent downloads. • Inode limits apply to shared hosting. Excessive small files (>250,000 inodes) may trigger a review.

2.4 Bandwidth: • Services consuming more than 15% of the node's total available bandwidth will be contacted for optimization or upgrade. • Sustained high bandwidth usage may require migration to a dedicated solution. • Bandwidth-intensive activities (video streaming, large file distribution) require a VPS or Dedicated Server plan.

3. Game Server Specific Limits

3.1 Minecraft Servers: • Plugin count should remain reasonable for the allocated resources (typically under 50 plugins for standard plans). • World size should be managed — worlds exceeding 10 GB should consider upgrading or implementing world trimming. • Entity counts, loaded chunks, and redstone machines must be kept within performance-acceptable levels.

3.2 FiveM Servers: • Resource count should match the plan tier. Excessive resource loading beyond allocated RAM will trigger throttling. • Server-side scripts with high tick rates or unoptimized loops must be corrected upon notification. • Large asset packs (>5 GB custom assets) may require a higher-tier plan.

3.3 Other Game Servers: • Performance expectations vary by game. Consult our knowledge base for game-specific guidelines. • Modded servers with extensive mod lists may require dedicated resources.

4. VPS and Dedicated Server Usage

4.1 VPS Fair Use: VPS services are allocated dedicated resources and are subject to fewer restrictions. However: • Network abuse (spam, scanning, attacks) is strictly prohibited. • Excessive I/O that degrades host node performance may result in I/O throttling. • Running TOR exit nodes is not permitted.

4.2 Dedicated Servers: Dedicated servers have the fewest restrictions as resources are not shared. Customers may use resources as they see fit, subject to: • Compliance with our Acceptable Use Policy. • No illegal activities or prohibited content. • No network abuse or activities that threaten infrastructure stability.

4.3 Unmetered Bandwidth: Plans advertised as "unmetered" allow unlimited data transfer at the port speed included with the plan. This is not "unlimited" bandwidth — it is limited to the port speed (e.g., 1 Gbps port = up to ~330 TB/month theoretical maximum).

5. Enforcement and Consequences

5.1 Progressive Enforcement: XeroHost uses a progressive enforcement model:

First Offense: Email notification with a 48-hour window to correct the issue. Our team is available to help optimize resource usage.

Second Offense: 24-hour temporary service suspension with a required action plan before reactivation.

Third Offense: Permanent termination of the affected service without refund. Data will be available for download for 7 days.

5.2 Immediate Action: In cases where resource abuse poses an immediate threat to infrastructure stability or other customers' services, we reserve the right to: • Throttle or limit resources without prior notice. • Temporarily suspend the service pending investigation. • Terminate the service immediately for severe violations.

5.3 Appeals: If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you may appeal by opening a support ticket within 14 days of the action. Include any relevant technical information to support your appeal.

6. Questions and Contact

If you are unsure whether your intended use falls within this policy, please ask before deploying. Our team is happy to help you find the right plan for your needs.
